You’ve found the Wordpress Theme Test Drive site. One of the biggest jobs in setting up a new blog is choosing the right theme. The theme viewer over at Wordpress.com gives access to nearly 800 themes as I’m writing this. That’s alot to sift through, even with a search.

But the biggest problem over there is that all you see is the front end, the part your readers will see. I thought it would be nice to have a place where you could review the back end as well, the part you’ll spend most of your time in as you create content and manage your site.

That’s why I created this site. You can log in here as an author and test drive some of the best free Wordpress themes. If you want total control as an admin, you’ll have to get me to upgrade your status. You’ll get total access, which means you will be able to change the layout, add plugins, edit widgets, view site statistics, create new content and of course change the theme.

You will also be able to edit user files(PLEASE DON’T!), edit theme files(PLEASE DON’T!), and generally mess things up for the rest of us(PLEASE DON’T!). While I’m talking about “don’ts”, let me just mention that this is a G-Rated space, completely open to the public at large to visit. Please be considerate when creating new content or comments.

The plan is to host about 20 of the very best Wordpress themes here, including posted reviews on each with open comments. Feel free to publish a post reviewing one or more of the themes you try out.
